Quick answer: A MagSafe wallet sticks to the back of an iPhone 12 or newer with magnets. It stays on in normal use but can be pushed off sideways in a tight pocket, so a MagSafe case with strong magnets helps. The Capes MagLock Wallet holds up to 3 cards. Android phones need a magnetic ring or a magnetic case.
A MagSafe wallet replaces the bulky wallet in your back pocket with the two or three cards you actually use, carried on the phone you never forget. The questions people ask before buying one are always the same: will it fall off, will it ruin my cards, and will it work on my phone. Here are straight answers.
How does a MagSafe wallet work?
It is a slim card holder with magnets on the back that line up with the ring of magnets Apple builds into every iPhone since the iPhone 12. Hold it near the back of the phone and it snaps into place in the centre.
The wallet has no battery and no electronics. It doesn't connect to the phone or draw power; it is held on by magnets alone.
Do MagSafe wallets fall off?
Not in normal use, but a sideways push can slide one off. Magnets hold hardest against a straight pull and least against a sliding force, so the moment a wallet comes off is usually when you drag the phone out of tight jeans or a snug bag pocket.
What decides how firmly it stays:
| What is on the back of your phone | How the wallet holds |
|---|---|
| Bare iPhone 12 or later | Snaps on directly |
| MagSafe case with its own magnets | Holds well; the case magnets add to the phone's |
| Thin skin | Works; our phone skins are listed as compatible with MagSafe and wireless charging |
| Regular case without magnets | Weak or no hold; the case puts distance between the magnets |
| Android phone, or iPhone 11 and older | Needs a magnetic ring or a magnetic case first |
Two habits help: slide the phone into your pocket wallet-side in, and take the phone out by gripping the phone and wallet together.
How many cards can a MagSafe wallet hold?
Most are made for a few cards, not a full wallet. The Capes MagLock Wallet holds up to 3 cards, for example a debit card, a credit card and an ID card.
Keep it to the cards you use every day. Forcing extra cards in makes them harder to slide out and thickens the wallet, which moves the phone further from a mount or charger.
Is a MagSafe wallet safe for my cards and my phone?
For the phone, yes; for cards, keep them off the charger. The wallet does not drain the battery because it has no electronics.
- Charging: Apple says not to place credit cards, security badges, passports or key fobs between an iPhone and a MagSafe charger, because this may damage magnetic strips or RFID chips. Take the wallet off before you put the phone on a MagSafe or wireless charger.
- Magnetic stripes: the card's chip and tap-to-pay work differently from the black magnetic stripe. If you rely on a card that only works by its stripe, such as some hotel key cards or office access cards, carry it somewhere else.
- Mounts: take the wallet off before snapping the phone onto a magnetic car mount, so the cards don't sit between two magnets and the phone holds firmly.
Does a MagSafe wallet work on Android?
Yes, once the back of the phone is magnetic. Android phones don't have MagSafe magnets, so you need one of these:
- A magnetic ring stuck on the phone or, better, on its case. Stick it in the centre of the back, and keep it clear of the wireless-charging coil and tap-to-pay area if you use those.
- A case with magnets built in. Our Clear Armour cases for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series have N52 magnets, so a wallet snaps on without a ring.
The same applies to iPhone 11 and older models, which have no MagSafe magnets.
Is a MagSafe wallet with a stand worth it?
If you watch videos or take video calls on your phone, yes: one accessory does two jobs. The MagLock Wallet's hinge flips out as a kickstand that props the phone up in portrait or landscape, then folds back flat against the cards.
| MagSafe wallet with stand | Plain MagSafe card holder | Regular wallet | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cards | A few daily cards | A few daily cards | Many cards plus cash |
| Props up the phone | Yes, portrait and landscape | No | No |
| Take off to charge | Yes | Yes | Not on the phone |
| Pocket bulk | Phone gets slightly thicker | Phone gets slightly thicker | A second item to carry |
The Capes MagLock Wallet and what pairs with it
The MagLock Wallet holds 3 cards, doubles as a stand, comes in Carbon Fibre Black or Black Leather, and has a 3-month warranty. Pair it with a case that has magnets for the firmest hold.
On an iPhone 17 Pro or 18 Pro, the Impact Armour Pro case has N52 magnets and a metal stand of its own, if you would rather keep the wallet slim and the stand on the case.

Haan, agar phone ke peeche magnetic ring lagi ho ya case mein magnets hon. Android phones mein MagSafe magnets nahi hote, isliye ring ya magnetic case zaroori hai.
Do MagSafe wallets fall off easily?
Not in normal use. They hold best against a straight pull and can slide off with a sideways push, such as pulling the phone out of a tight pocket. A MagSafe case with strong magnets makes the hold firmer.
How many cards does the Capes MagLock Wallet hold?
Up to 3 cards, such as a debit card, a credit card and an ID card.

Does the MagLock Wallet have a warranty?
